Jetta needs an exhaust (GLS MK4)

So my resonator is completely rotted out and my muffler is apparently gone too, according to my ex-mechanic.
At this point, what I WANT to do is have someone weld on one of those magnaflow mufflers and some pipe/another magnaflow where the res is because they cost very little on amazon.ca... with no core charge
HOWEVER, I don't know if this is feasible, and honestly want any peice of **** that will get this thing to pass inspection, and so I arrive at the ebay exhaust as a second option. I am pretty sure I only need a catback system, and have found this- http://www.ebay.com/itm/391343952147...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT to be the cheapest (with shipping to CANADA, very important) I don't care about longevity or sound, just that it's not ridiculously loud (I don't want a ricemobile) or
But before I order, I need to ensure it will work. And, if it would be possible to swap out the muffler on that system with a magnaflow OR if cutting and welding the old exhaust is a reasonable option (and what I should pick up/look for to bring to a muffler shop or anyone I find who can weld).

The car in question is a 2005 Jetta GLS 2.0 (MK4) Bone stock.
My budget for getting this exhaust done is a ripe $500 Canadian, but I'm very poor and very young. So if I can spend half of that, and my car not sound like a ricer, I'm in.
