Jetta 1.8T oil capacity

Hi everyone,

I have an 02 Jetta 1.8T 20V, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the oil capacity of the engine is. I bought the car without an owner's manual, so i can't see what the figure is.

start with 5 qts with a new filter
start it up then shut it off and recheck add more if needed

4.6 Quarts.

Purolater Wix or OEM filters only, no Fram crap.

Thanks for the responses...yeah only Mobil 1 Synthetic and Mann filters....
