i'm thinking of buying a 91 jetta w/ bad head gasket
anyone here know about changing these babies out? i'm not a macanich but my friends are all gearheads and they would help me change it. how hard is it? it's a good car and a great deal otherwise. thanks for any help.
If you get this car, when you remove the head, have
it shaved or plained to be sure it's flat and level or the
gasket will blow again, it has an aluminum head. also
replace the cam belt, if the water pump is one of the
pulleys the cam belt runs on , replace the water pump also.
BE SURE THE HEAD BOLTS ARE TORQUED TO SPECKS AND
FOLLOW THE CORRECT PATTERN, OR YOU WILL WARP THE
HEAD AND THE GASKET WILL BLOW AGAIN.
