Default ID Engine part

I'm new to this forum, I have a silly question. I have a 1998 Jetta GT with a 2.0 gas engine, 5 speed. A month after I got the car I wrecked the front end by hitting a deer. I have rebuilt the damage, but there is a part I can not identify in the engine compartment. It is bolted to the intake manifold, somewhat round, it has 2 hoses connected to it, one leads to the air filter compartment. It seems to blow air into the air intake. I cannot find this part listed or pictured in any Jetta info I can find. It is damaged, I have taped it up to work, but I'd like to replace it if I can figure out what it is. Can anyone help?

It is right next to the dip stick with the 2 hoses coming out of it. I have not been able to find this part on any jetta engine pictures or diagrams.
