How to take the top engine cover off.
Maybe a stupid question but I have 2005/2 new Jetta 2.5 and I want to check the air filter, plugs, and other fluids but for some reason I am not able to take the big plastic cover from the engine. I know that there are a few clips at the rear of the cover but they are so tight that I am not able to leave them unlocked. I am afraid I break them accidentally.
Any ideas??
Any ideas??
Am I looking at the wrong place or so? Are you telling me that those plastic clips in the back have star screws??
If so, that is kind of weird that a consumer will have to use tools just to check some fluid levels

Well, I am trying to find out how to check the air filter, brake fluid, steering fluid, and probably want to check the plugs. I must say that I have worked a lot on mostly cars from the 90s up to changing out a tranny from my '96 Dodge Caravan.
As I looking now under the hood from my 2.5, a whole new world opens......
As I understand that I should not do too much, I still would like to get used on how to check these things and unfortunately the manual is not that helpful.
