Exclamation How to change a few things on the Jetta....

I bought a new (used) 1998 Jetta GT. I have a new front bumper cover and grille which i need to replace on the original. I am a big ignorant on how to go about doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default Grille

I had to replace the grille on my 99 jetta (early body style). To remove it there was a series of 4 screws in front of the latching mechanism between the headlights. Once those were removed it pulled off as the bottom appeared to be held on by plastic locking tabs.

There is a catch though. The replacement I bought from a scrapping yard was from a 97 body style and did not have the same attachment. This one appeared to simply snap in with the plastic locking tabs all the way around and since I did not have the engagement tabs where the top would mount (I had screws instead, a much better design in my mind) I had to zip tie it to the frame to stop it from rattling.

Hope this helps.
