Help me understand brake light switch recall
Hello everyone,
Car details: 99 Jetta GLS 2.0L 5sp fully loaded The problem I am having is my brake lights are on all the time, even when the car is turned off. I removed the brake light switch and pushed the rod down with my finger and still have the same symptoms. When I disconnect the switch from the plug, the lights go out. When I plug it back in, the lights come on and stay on again. I bought a new switch and put it in, but have the same exact symptoms. Is this an issue that would fall under the brake light switch recall? Is there another brake activation sensor somewhere? I tried searching the topic, but 1 billion results about brake light recall that do not have the same symptoms as mine. Thank you for the help ahead of time =) Dominik |
Hello!
Thank you for posting, I found this for you browsing some fourms. Check to see if your brake pedel is "dropping" causeing your brakes to come on. With your foot, lift the brake pedel up to make sure its completely depressed, then check to see if your lights are off. You may need someone to look for you or place something under your brake pedel to keep it from falling while you look. Best of luck! Adjusting Brake Light Switch:
