Help!! Engine light on and other problems
 

lol help!!! Feel frustrated!

I got a used car one month ago. 2003 jetta 2.0 GL with 75k manual transmission. After 150miles the check engine light was on. I sent it to 2 different garages. Get the same codes:

P0456: Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (very small leak)
P0321: P0321 is Ignition/distributor engine speed input cicuit range/performance intermitent.

However neither of them can repair my car, I went to another VW dealer and get these below:
1. Needs Engine Speed Sensor (I guess it is for P0321 right?)
2.evaprative LDP has small leak
3.an intake hose is not connected may be need an flow sensor.
4.Purge solenoid is dirty. gas cap needs to be changed.

Then they gave me this bill, but I did not allow them to repair it.
Idp pump $265
purge solenoid $126.67
gas cap $25
labor $250
speed sensor $138
labor $145
intake boot $25
total over $1,000
I guess this bill over charges me a lot. And it seems not necessary to change IDP pump. I just hope to know what parts really go wrong and what parts must be changed immediately. And what is the resonable price for those parts.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Is this your first european car ??? Ive got an '02 and have had similar sticker shock on repairs...I would find a german auto repair shop or use the dealer...scary money I know...boy do I know...but when these cars are on they are spot on...and run like it too...
The other alternative is getting things done in chunks so its not quite as painful to the wallet all at once...
