HELP! 99.5 MKIV Jetta Transmission Problem!

I just bought a 99.5 MKIV Jetta, and when I go to accelerate, its starts to go, but all of the sudden, the engine revs and it feel like the clutch activates, or it pops into neutral, but a second later, it pops back in drive and jerks forward to keep going! I'm petrified, cause I just spent all this money, on a beautiful car! The other thing that pisses me off is, I accidentally erased my codes, so I can't tell whats wrong! Do you think It just needs more fluid, or what should I do next??? PLEASE HELP!!!:(

Welcome to the forum. Attachment 2780

I'm not sure I understand your description of this fault. When you accelerate the revs go up but the vehicle speed doesn't, do you mean the clutch slips?

It accelerates up to 5/10 mph, then it slips, the revs go up, and a second later in jumps back into gear and keeps stumbling forward! And its weird, because it only does it every once in awhile, there's no trouble code, no check engine light. My mom had a Buick, did the same thing, on hills, and that turned out to be a bad clamp leaking trany fluid!

BTW- Its a 2.0L 4cyl, 4 speed automatic, GL or GLS model, I'm not sure since there's no badge.

Its still unusual if it slips then grips again if you are still accelerating.

It sounds like you need the gearbox out to investigate.

I asked you put you car spec in you signature not at the bottom of the post. https://volkswagenforum.com/forum/ne...gnature-34185/

Hate to sound like a total newbie, which I am, but I can't figure out how to create a signature, so sorry, and I was able to finally drive the car. Now, I got the code P0758, description Shift solenoid B electrical. I was doing some reading online and read that sometimes it could just be dirty fluid, and what leads me to believe this is that, before I erased the code by accident I specifically remember there being more than just the one Shift solenoid B code. I'm pretty sure there was a C, A, D, etc. So maybe the dirt settled out of a few of the solenoids, and there's just dirt stuck in the one? Idk, I'm just trying to find any possible explanation and figure out how much its going to cost.

BTW- Its a 2.0L 4cyl, 4 speed automatic, GL or GLS model, I'm not sure since there's no badge.
