Cracked clutch plate, why? Pls help

Cracked clutch plate, why? Pls help
I have an 02 jetta 1.8t, just did engine swap, after the swap I had clutch problem, after looking, I found that the clutch plate was cracked, any ideas what may have caused this? If it's something I did, I don't want to do it again. Thx
