Default Clutch is kaputt. Any ideas?

Hey guys!

It's been a while since the last time I reached out to the fourms for help with

I have a 03 Jetta 1.8t 135,000mi and the "clutch" went out on me.
I stalled it out in first gear while I was stopped trying to put in a gate code in my driveway. I left it in gear when I started it..pulled up, and park. I noticed it was making a wired ticking sound but quickly ignored it. When I got back in my car it wouldn't go in reverse. I forced it by goosing the gas and grinding it in gear. Other than screwing the transmission up, it will drive once forced in gear.

The clutch feels about the same...I don't notice anything different. When the car is on and the clutch is not depressed it makes a fairly loud discouraging chattering racket.

I'm taking it in to get fixed and trying to know what might be happing so I don't get took at the garage.

Any ideas guys?? Thanks~!
