check engine light....
the light is on in my jetta. i had it tested. and fixed the problem.. how can i turn it off? is there a sequence or a number of times to start it? auto zone will run the codes and tell me what it is but said they cant turn it off by law..
also i changed my spark plugs out and used autolite platnum and now my idle is very rough. is VW that picky on plugs or could they be gapped wrong? if so what should they be gapped to? |
RE: check engine light....
You can either by a DTC scanner for $70 and clear it or, take it to a mechanic and for $70 he'll clear it.

RE: check engine light....
so theres no sequence to shut it off? oh racerx002 do you know the recommended gapping i should put on my plugs? or should i just go back to bosh platnums?
|
RE: check engine light....
I really like the Bosch Platinum +4's. And of course you don't have to gap those.
|
RE: check engine light....
well the plus 4's are famtastic plugs. but they arent in my budget AT ALL right now. LOL. do you think the autolite platinums are "ok" plugs to use? where can i find the gap requirments ? sorry to sound like a pain. thanks racerx002

RE: check engine light....
No pain at all. I don't know what the gap is for your car unfortunately.
|
plug gap
the gapping requirement is .032 and autolites are actually good plugs
|
ideally though you want platinums, if you just go to autozone and get what i think are called the single platinum, plugs are good they last longer and give you a better spark
|
well i put the autolites in and it ran like hell.. then i put the old bosch back in and it runs smooth as can be.. ??
|
here are some codes my jetta threw.. p0442 p0171 p1128 p0422 and p0102. any ideas?
