change gearing for highway?
Hi, I have a 1999.5 jetta 2.0 GL. I love my new Volkswagn but soon after i bought it my transmission started to grind gears once it got warmed up. What would cause this? When the transmission is cold it wil shift smooth as butter but once it gets warm it will grind and it is only getting worse so i stopped driving it. I checked the fluid level and it is perfect. I had the clutch replaced just 4,000 miles ago. Please help me!

You could try bleeding the clutch if its hydraulically operated.

Had the exact same problem with my old Hyundai. the clutch would not completely release it's grip, the gears would then not completely disengage:
2 simple things to test:
1- are your gears grinding?
2- when you are at full stop(1st gear clutch depressed) on a flat surface w/o brakes is the car moving? do yo have less than 1 inch or so of free play before the car starts moving?
If you answer yes to both these questions it's definitely a clutch issue. Or the clutch installed is not the right one(I would be surprised) Or the clutch hydraulic system is not acting right.OR you have some veeerrrrryyyyy thick floor mats and they prevent you from completely depressing the clutch haha just kidding
