Default Automatic Transmission Shift ****

Hi I have a Wolfsburg 2003 1.8t Jetta, and I broke my automatic shift ****, the button will not release the lock for me to move the shifter from Park to Drive, so I removed the **** and I can see the release thingy in the middle of the shift stick cylinder, it is no longer connected to the ****.

Is it complicated to replace this with an aftermarket automatic shift ****, or will I have to have a dealer or Mechanic replace this?
