Default Alarm or No alarm??

Hello everyone, I have a question that I hope someone can help me out with. I recently purchased the 2007 Jetta. And it comes with an active alarm (one you have to manually set) and the engine imobilizer. My concern is that it is not a sensor alarm. It only goes off when you open the doors. You can't start the car because of the engine imobilizer, but someone could brake my window to steal my stuff or my airbags and the alarm would never go off. I am torn if I should get another alarm put in, because everyone (including the dealer) says that the Jetta is a very tricky electrical car and I could cause damage to the electrical system if I get another alarm put in. Any advice would help

Laurie
