99 jetta trunk
 

the trunk on my 99 jetta won't open. i was wondering if there is a inside release in the trunk in the new model 99 and if there is, where it is located.

please help!!!

unfortunately, no release..... a jetta flaw. At least i havent found one yet ! ...... you have to fold the back seats down, or thats what i did and crawled in with a phillips head screwdriver and you have to take the panel off covering the deck lid. You can pull the latch and then get out to fix it. The parts are made of plastic and i believe galvanized sheet metal? Look for a parts car for this, because if you need the actuator too, its gonna cost you a lotttttt. Good luck

i have been dealing with that same problem since may of last year...horrible to say but when i need to use my trunk i just thrown the back seats down. im hoping when i take it to the shop it wont cost too much to repair!
