99 jetta III rear grinding noise
Hello everyone, I was hoping someone could offer me some advice on a problem I have been having. I have a 99 jetta III that is making a grinding/ rubbing noise at the right rear wheel. This noise occurs the most when I have a passenger sitting over the rear wheel and generally goes away after a couple of blocks until the vehicle comes to a stop. When I start driving again it makes the noise again. I just replaced the struts (not the springs) so I was thinking it could possibly be the wheel bearing? Just looking for some advise. Thanks.

RE: 99 jetta III rear grinding noise
I did not replace the strut mounts while I was at it. Do you think that could be it. I would like to avoid replacing the wheel bearing if I can, would like to leave that project as a last resort.
Also, I did a quick check for parts on 'autopartswarehouse.com' (its where I seem to be able to find everything I need) and the only strut mounts I could find there were for the front. Are they interchangeable?
