Default 96 Jetta Door Lock Issue

3 or 4 days ago my door locks started acting up a bit. I usually unlock all my doors on my 96 GL by turning the driver side door lock counter clockwise twice (about 1/4 I think). I can lock them by going clockwise once. The driver side stopped working. I can still manually unlock the driverside but it now has no effect on the other doors or the alarm. The passenger side still works.

I tried searching a bit, but figured I would post to see if this is a common issue, or something I am going to have to start digging into.

Any insight would be appreciated.

I had that problem at one point too. My dad had to re-solder the wiring in the driver's side door (inside the black rubber thing) because whenever you open and close the door, the wires will kink up. It hasn't done it again since and it's been a few years.
