Default 95 jetta no start

Sounds very similiar to another post on here.....I have a 95 jetta 2.0l with 51k on it. I got the car for free drove it home and now that its cold it won't start. It was my friend that gave it to me, and he said it sputtered for like the first minute after you started it cold. So is this a common problem??? By the way, I am not getting spark out of my coil, pulled the wire off of the dist from the coil, put it right next to a ground and nothing. any common problems..i am used to working on fords!!!

I have a similar problem with my Jetta. I will be replacing the throttle position sensor this weekend. Will let you know how it turns out.

Well, another thing I thought you all should know is that the battery died too. I just got a little information that I might have to have a module reflashed b/c of a theft problem?

Just fixed a similar problem today -- followed the lead of a previous post on this site. After removing my ignintion coil, I noticed that it was cracked in several areas (seems to be a common problem w/Jettas). I cleaned it up and coated the cracked areas with epoxy. Myengine now runs very smooth -- much different from how it ran previously. I hope this helps!
