Default '92 jetta control arm bushing replacement

I have done a little searching and am unable to find any real advise. I know, Haynes is not always the place to look[:@].
I want to replace some seriously rough bushings on the wifes jetta (control arm bushings), but haynes says take it to a dealer because special tools are needed. (yeah, like my wallet!!!) Forget it!
I have looked at the task at hand from the ground, havn't even had the jetta on jackstands yet.
Can i do this in my carport with common sense?
Is there a link to a picture step-by-step'cause i like pictures!!!

if you dont want to take it to a dealer because of the cost, why dont you just buy the tools? they dont sell them at sears or your local automotive center but you can get them from snap on but dont forget to bring your wallet. hahahahahahaha

What special tools could possibly be needed? (besides wallet)
