90 Jetta will not start

Ok, here it goes.

My 90 Jetta will not start. It acts like it is going to, but will not. Before, it would take awhile to get it to start<like 10 minutes> but it would always start. Before this started happening my car would sometimes stall when i would get ready to slow down for a stop. Also during the same period of time my car as i was driving would, sorta stop, what i mean is, i would have to lift my foot off my petal and put it back down for it to catch and have power going to it again.<This happened at all different speeds>

So far, the car has had a tune-up,the fuel pumps are working fine. and the spark plugs are getting spark. Any help would be awesome.

Thanks so much, Tammy <smiles>

SOME OF THESE SUGGESTIONS ARE LAUGHABLE...YOU NEED TO DO THE FOLLOWING.....RUN A COIL CHECK TO BE SURE THE SPARK IS STRONG AND STEADY(DISCONNECT THE PLUG WIRE FROM THE DISTRIBUTOR CRANK THE ENGINE...WITH A TIMING LIGHT IN THE CIRCUIT.....NOW BE SURE YOU DO NOT HAVE LOOSE OR BURNED FUSES AT THE BOX....SWAP THE BOX FOR A NEW ONE /JUNK YRD BOX IN BETTER SHAPE...LOOK FOR BURN MARKS AND LOOSE CONTACTAT THE #5 FUEL PUMP FUSE AND THE ANTI KNOCK SENSOR FUSE......REMEMBER EVEN IF THE PUMPS ARE WORKING THEY NEED TO GENERATE PRESSURE THRU THE FUEL DISTRIBUTOR SYSTEM.....OPEN THE BANJO FITTING ON THE FUEL CELL AND CRANK THE ENGINE ...YOU SHOULD SEE A REAL STRONG SPRAY.....BE SURE THE INJECTORS ARE PUMPING...LIFT OFF THE RUBBER BOOT AND PULL UP THE FUEL PLATE WITH THE INJECTORS OUT ONE AT A TIME...THE PLATE ACTIVATES THE INJECTOR.....NOW MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE ALL YOUR VACUME LINES ARE NOT LEAKING AND THAT THE 2 OR 3 PRESSURE REGULATORS ARE WORKING....USE A MULTIMETER( YOU CAN HEAR THE SWITCH ACTIVATED DIAPHRAM REGULATOR ON THE SIDE OF THE FUEL DISTRIBUTOR) IF IT VIBRATES ITS WORKING.....YOU HAVE A CONTROL REGULATOR BY THE PLUG DISTRIBUTOR AND SOMETIMES A DIFFERENTIAL REGULATOR MOUNTED ON THE FUEL CELL DISTRIBUTOR......ALL OF THESE UNITS NEED TO WORK.....LAST, CHECK THE AIR VALVE REGULATOR BEHIND THE INTAKE MANIFOLD FOR LEAKS CRACKS IN THE HOSES ETC.....BE SURE THE COIL GROUND WIRE AND ALL GROUNDS ARE TIGHT(BATT.....ETC.....EVERY THING IS FUEL PRESSURE AND SPARK .....ALL STARTING PROBLEMS AND STALLING EMMINATE FROM THE MOST OVER LOOKED AREA IN THE CAR(THE FUSE BOX!)START THERE AND REMEMBER THOSE PUMPS WORK IN LIQUID AND WORK IN UNISON...IF ONE IS OVER WORKED AND ON THE WAY OUT YOU'RE SCREWED!.....IF ALL ELSE FAILS YOU MAY HAVE AIR IN THE FUEL SYSTEM AND WILL HAVE TO BLEED THE SYSTEM(EASY TO DO) LET ME KNOW IF IT COMES TO THAT!

Laughable huh? Be careful what you say about our members, these are merely suggestions, and opinions of what COULD be the problem. These are good suggestions, but not all our members may be as experienced as you or I. Be easy man...

GUESSTIMATES ARE NOT SUGGESTIONS AND CAN LEAD THESE VWOWNERS IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION ,THROWING GOOD MONEY AFTER BAD....SO YOU NEED TO DO YOUR JOB AND BE SURE THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE NO BUSINESS EVEN MAKING RIDICULOUS SUGGESTIONS...DON'T DO SO...BECAUSE EVERY BAD GUESS...DOESN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM.....AND THESE CARS GET AWAY FROM THE DO IT YOUR SELFERS REALLY FAST...CAUSING HEART ACHE AND FINANCIAL DISTRESS......BE CARE FUL WHO YOU TELL TO GO EASY.....YOU NEED MY EXPERTISE...I DON'T NEED THIS AMUSING CANDOR!...AND THESE CARS IN EVERY YEAR WERE COMPLICATED LIL MACHINES...AND STILL HAVE MANY SYSTEMS WORKING SIMULTANIOUSLY WITH A LIST OF PROBLEMS THAT OCCUR IN SEQUENCE!...AND THAT IS THE BEST SUGGESTION I CAN GIVE YOU TO IMPROVE THE INFORMATION SHARED WITH THE READERS!...THATS WHAT A FORUM IS SUPPOSE TO DO...THE KEY IS USEFUL INFORMATION.....EVERY THING ELSE IS MONKEE ****....TRUST ME!
