33/42 Tire Pressure on Jetta 1.8T?

The tire pressure listed on the door jam of our 2004 Jetta 1.8T says 33 psi Front and 42 psi Rear. Is this correct or is the sticker erroneous? Everyone looks at me funny when I say this, and when we get our car back from the dealer, they inevitably inflate the tires to the same all around. I ask because we've has strange problems with the car pulling right ever since we bought it, even on both the OEM and with a new set of tires and an alignment check. The tire place says its a problem with the car, and the car place says its a problem with the tires!

BTW - we had the right rear caliper replaced, which helped with the pulling but did not fully resolve it.

I still have no answer on the tire pressure, other than I should watch the tire wear to see if the pressure specs cause a problem. The pulling was finally resolved. Essentially here was the problem:

Car had a slight pull right since we got it.

4 new Michelin tires were put on.
Car pulled much harder to the right.
Had new tire put on because of radial pull. Front right tire was bad. Tires were rotated so new tire was placed in back (right).
Car still had old pull. Took to VW dealer: bad brake caliper. (it was sticking)
Had tires rotated, front to back, and the pull came back. New tire that was on the back, when put up front, was causing the car to pull.
Rims were checked. No problems. New tire was put on the offending wheel, and the problem was not resolved. Alignment checked again, no problems.

What was the problem? The slight tire tread difference between the newest tire that was the radial pull replacement and the other 3 (which was about 2/32") was great enough for the car that when the new tire was up front the car pulled. When we replaced the other front tire with a new one, so that BOTH tires up front were new, thus eliminating the tread difference between the front tires, the problem ceased.
