I recently leased a 2011 VW jetta. For a few days the car stereo worked fine playing cd-roms of mp3 files but starting today, it seems to play all of the songs starting from the 2:04 position. It shows 00:00 but its playing from the middle of the song.

If I seek backwards you can get to the beginning of the song and the correct time will be displayed. but when you skip to the next song or the previous song it will start playing from 2:04 into the song. I even changed discs and it had the exact same problem with the exact same timing. As you can imagine this is pretty annoying (only hearing the 2nd half of all the songs on the cd-rom).

when I played a regular cd it seemed to work fine, no problems with start time.

Does anybody know how i can fix this issue?

I'm thinking about disconnecting and reconnecting the battery to reset the car stereo but I'm curious as to how I got the radio into this state in the first place.


any help, suggestions or advice appreciated...
