2006 Jetta Timing Belt Controvsery
I have been told my 4 seperate VW dealers to replace my Time belt at 128,000 kms (80000 miles).
I have been told by1 VWdealer to replace at 144,000 kms (90,000 miles) and 1 VW dealer told me 160,000 kms (100,000 miles) My VW manual says to replace at 160,000 kms (100,000 miles) VW Canada said the manual is a guidline (duh!) and that the dealers are just trying to prevent me from a costly repair. I figure the engineers that designed the Timing Belt must have a pretty good idea when it may fail under extreme conditionsandI would hope they factor in a pretty wide margin of error into the 160,000 kms schedule. Let be be very clear because there seems to be some confusion when it comes to timing belt replacement. I AM TALKING ABOUT THE NEW STYLE JETTA (2006 and beyond) NOT OLD STYLE. Does anyone have a suggestion on who may be right? |
RE: 2006 Jetta Timing Belt Controvsery
no more than 60,000
i have seen them brake at less than that on 2000 -2004 when they recomended 100,000 not worth the risk |
Is it a belt or chain? Sorry I'm new to VW. Is the water pump connected to it too?
