2006 Jetta door won't lock without unlocking it first when exiting the car
Hi everyone,
I have a 2006 Jetta and when I exit the car (door locked), the car doesn't register the door got unlocked. When I try locking it, it will not lock even though the alarm flashes and I can proceed to open the door. At the point, the alarm goes off. The workaround is to always hit unlock from inside or on the key, then lock it. Then the car will lock.
Opening the door shows up on the dashboard so I'm not sure if this is a door latch or something else. Do you have any suggestions what part would I need to replace to fix this? Also, could this type of a
problem cause battery drain if the system doesn't detect what's going on with the door?
Thank you in advance for your help!

How long is a piece of string?
You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.
