Default 2004 Jetta headlights turn off

Hello all!! I have a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta GLS and it has automatic headlights (no way to turn them off). When I go to put my Volkswagen tail light and instrument gauges to turn on, the headlights turn off. Does anyone have an idea why this is happening? What do you recommend to get this fixed? The headlights do not work at night because the taillights are on!

Have you Googled this problem?

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.
