2004 1.8Turbo 5 speed manual Jetta won't engage when put into gear.

So it started out fine until someone else drove my car. Now when I put it in reverse, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th nothing happens. Acts as if it's still in neutral. Before it got this bad it started out as I'd be driving let's say I'd be in 1st I'd go to put her in 2nd it'd stay in first gear, even when I try 3rd if 2nd wasn't engaging and still would stay in 1st. if anyone else has had this problem please I'm all ears. Thanks in advance!

2004 Jetta 1.8T w/5 speed manual transmission. Purchased the vehicle along these lines, generally for a section's vehicle, yet all the other things run and drive great, so if not for this issue it would be a respectable driver. Will not/can't choose first stuff. Appears as though there is no "spot" for first, or that the movement system has nowhere to go., bolted out. The remainder of the stuff choices works consummately. Attempted the link change custom, yet it was fine-as I suspected. The move get-together works/moves consummately from the tranny end and the move switch end. Not a synchro, it will not go in quit, moving, running, or shut off. Anyway, what's the plausible most realistic estimation, or most ideal approach to go to an analysis? Move tower parts broken someplace, or something like a moving fork bowed broken? Appears as on the off chance that it was inward there would be other stuff choices that would be influenced.
