2002 Jetta Wagon Automatic With NO reverse

Last week my transmission broke on me, I have never had any problems with my transmission before.... I came home wanted to back up into the driveway and I felt in kick in a little, but nothing happened any one an idea waht this can be?

It is an automatic transmission and forward gears work perfect....
