2002 jetta p1790 code

i have a 2002 jetta 1.8 turbo.car keeps kicking a p1790 code and car runs very rough now
.what do i look for? also the trans is shifting very hard .

That's a bad solenoid, check with the OEM dealer for the part OEM VW Parts - OEM Volkswagen Parts Online | VWPartsVortex.com

Then you'll be as good as new!
