1999 Jetta, Door Latch and Other stuff
I recently purchased a little green 1999 Jetta. 124750 miles on it, it runs pretty well. I took it to my local VW for a dealer's buyer inspection. I spent 700 dollars on some of the more major stuff that needed to be done with them, but I am working on some of the smaller and more cosmetic stuff myself. Tonight I was in the process of changing out the front driver door latch (they said it was bad) and I got to the part where I need to remove the two large bolts holding the latch in only to realize they aren't standard torque heads. they are something like a 12 point spine bit or something, but I don't know what size they are. Anyone know? (I will also need it for the rear driver door latch I have to do too).
I am going to also be doing the front valance, the belly pan, Glove box door, and a center console(rear section) in the vehicle to get the little bits of cosmetic touches done. I am going to take it to a mech I found down the road from the VW dealer (recommended by a friend) for the timing belt and plugs+wires as soon as I can afford it. That should make this vehicle look shiny and run like its new too! If anyone has any recommendations on where to get those cosmetic parts I am all ears. So far I have found OEM / Performance Parts for Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Mini, Porsche & Volkswagen - ECS Tuning, but they don't have a rear center console I like (or one that is really reasonable in the black satin finish)
I am excited, so far I am loving this car.
