1998 Jetta Shift Solenoid

Its solenoid N91 (in the diagram) Code says shift solenoid 2. I don't have what I wrote down in front of me, but I wanna say it was code 00264.

What is the resistance value supposed to be for the solenoid? I tested all the solenoids resistance, they were all around 54 ohms except for the solenoid I believe to be 2, that was like 5 ohms.

Is there anyway to test if the ribbon is bad?

Any assistance or wisdom from anyone who's had this problem?

Thanks.

I found it, resistance values are right on, coming from the connector, so the ribbon is good.

Its just one solenoid code, so TCM is doubful. I'm going to replace the solenoid, and see what happens...pretty sure thats gotta be the problem.

I'll let you know.

welp, put solenoids in...no deal.

I checked codes again, and its the same code 00264, shift solenoid 4 open or short...has continuity from the connector on top of the trans all the way through....

any ideas guys?

Thanks.

you know, I was thinking, and doing some research...

The code says shift solenoid 4, but AllData pointed the code toward N91, which is the EPC 1 solenoid...Did I really need to replace N90? (what appears to be shift solenoid 4)

I was also looking at it on alldatapro. It says that the -N91- selenoid valve 4 is faulty. Did you already replaced that one??

Yep, I replaced N91...I'm gonna put N90 and a harness in and see what happens.

I replaced solenoids N91 (again) N90 and N89 and the ribbon cable, and it shifts now.

however, it shifts, very very very hard!!

whats the deal with that?
