1997 Jetta No Spark
Hopefully I can find some answers. My Jetta has the 2.0l gas. After an oil change this morning it cranks but no spark from the coil. I checked all the coil and dist. connections, clean and dry. The only thing I did out of the ordinary was undo and clean the battery connections. I wondered about the factory anti-theft but a couple shops I talked to said it should'nt have been affected. Anyone know of sites where I could access engine wiring diagrams and procedures for testing the dist., coil, etc. I have a Haynes shop manual but it's pretty vague. Thanks for now.

No ideas anyone? Even though a couple dealerships I talked to said all the anti-theft does is disable the starter my Haynes manual says it disables the fuel circuit on the diesel and the ignition on the gas so still really wondering about that part of it.

Up and Running
Not sure how it happened but it fixed itself. Positive it was something with the battery being unhooked. Funny how two dealerships and four independant import shops all told me undoing the battery affects nothing but after I ordered the Bently shop manual I read all these things about the problems you encounter after losing your 12V power. Things like test drives with certain procedures, reprograming things with the Volks scan tool, not in every case but can be a real nightmare. Gee, wonder why I try to do all my own work instead of taking it to a shop?
