1990 jetta 1.8L gas ODB Port location
i recently purchased a 90 jetta GL 1.8 L was running good, then i started to have driveability issues. does any one know where the ODB port is located in this model. the Chiltons manual says it is under the center console, on the drivers side. the book with my scan tool says under the drivers dash. i have the dash out and have pulled the carpet back and the center console out. still i cant find an ODB II 16 pin port, or the 3 black, white, and blue plugs for the VAG 1551 scan tool used by the dealer.

ya i talked to VW dealer and they said the same thing. but some body has moved them or they were never installed at the factory. i have the carpet out on the drivers side, the center console out and i can find nothing. i havent found anything resembeling the plug description in my chiltons yet. i am about ready to put it all back togather and start testing components with VOM. i think this is my only option at this point. thanks for the post though i appreciate the help.

hard starting, no power, cuts out at highway speed. when it started i thought fuel filter, changed it out and it was fine, a couple weeks later it started again so i cahnged the fuel filter again thinking something had came loose in the tank or something. but did not help this time. fuel pump seems to run ok when the ignition is swithed on, though i have not checked the fuel rail pressue yet. i was hoping for a dignostic to know where to start looking first. 2000 miles ago i did a complete tune up and oil change, the only thing i did not do is check the timing setting. it seemed to be running good at that time.

check your pree pump
the in tank pump goes bad and can cause allot of problems
get in your trunk and remove cover plate pull off fuel lines and have someone turn the key on to see if you get fuel out of the tank
