1990 Jetta 1.8L 8v swap 2.0L GTI

I have a 90 Jetta, blew the head gasket and destroyed the piston rings. First off how much work does it take to fix what I got? Now I know were a 2.0L turbo intercooled engine from a 2003 Golf GTI and 6 spd transmission is. How hard is it swap those or is it possible?

Rings and head gasket isn't a big deal if you have tools and a place to work. A weekend job if you know your way around the engine bay.
I don't know about the 2.0 swap. I'd be surprised if it was a bolt-up deal.
