1989 Vw Jetta gas comming out cylenders

Can someone plaease help me? why wouls there be gas comming out of the cylenders. Its a stick shift and gas!

Can you be a bit more specific?

Gas coming out of the cylinder from where exactly, the spark plugs, the exhaust tail pipe?

I'm assuming your saying gas (petrol) as your American as gas in the UK can mean combustion gas.
