Default 1.8T random/multiple cyl misfire, Help!!

Hello,
I have more information about my problem. I think that I have ruled out fuel injectors and the coil packs (which are new.) Here is a quick review for those of you who may have not seen my last post. I have a 2000 Passat 1.8T, 5-speed with 105,000 miles. It has recently had problems starting. About one in every five starts it starts very rough and stays that way from 1 min to 5 min. The check engine light comes on and starts to flash. After a few min it run normally and will continue to do so until I shut the car off. The last time I did it I checked the codes. It came back with a P0300- Random/Multiple cylinder misfire, P0301 Cylinder 1 misfire, P0302 Cylinder misfire, and in the past a P0304- Cylinder 4 misfire has shown up. I think I have ruled out fuel related issues and am know looking into spark/timing issues. It seems like most of the ignition controls are in the ECU with the integrated ignition control module. This leaves me with the ECU and camshaft position sensor right? Is there any other sensor involved in spark/timing that could give me a misfire condition? It is strange because it seems to be happening on multiple cylinders. Any other ideas? I can’t really bring it to a dealer because it only does it once a week. The rest of the time it runs flawlessly. Thanks for all your help. I would appreciate and help no matter how small.

Chris

yes I have cleared the codes many times, the Random/ Multiple cyl. missfire P0300 always comes back, the other cyl. codes are sometimes different. I have had missfire codes come up for all cyl. except #3.

Talk to your dealer and aks them if theres a update to the cold startup. Its a update to the computer to adjust the cold startup. my Jetta was missfireing on startup at random times and setting a missfire code. After the update it hasnt reaccured.
