Default 1.4 TSi.. which fuel does it require?

Hey there,

I'm looking into purchasing a 1.4 TSi 2012 Jetta. I have heard, however, that it would require at least 95 octane, is that true? It's pretty expensive here and most people, as well as most cars that aren't TSI, use 92 rather than 95, and that's a big purchasing decision for me. Here in Egypt there are 80 octane, 90 octane, 92 octane, and 95 octane types of petrol gas.

I have heard that if I continuously use 92, the engine will die in no time.

I've also heard that there are some problems with the DSG gearbox, is that true as well? Friends of mine who have the Golf and the Scirocco have already replaced the gearbox under warranty but I don't know if that's a coincidence or what.

Thank you guys. Any information is appreciated.

Well in the UK they recommend Unleaded 95 RON.

The 1.4 is a very small engine for a large car you would be better of going for a diesel Jetta you would get better economy.
