Default 03 Jetta O2 sensor replacement

I need to replace the O2 sensor on my 03 Jetta GLS. I think it's located in the center-rear of my engine. Is this correct? Next, are there any special tools I need to replace it? Do I need to simply unbolt it from the engine block and replace it, or is it more complicated than that?

Thanks in advance,

The Jetta has 2 02 sensors on them, the Pre-Cat and the Post-Cat. Both are pretty easy to get too, the Pre-Cat is located on the firewall behind the engine. The Post-Cat is located under the car right next to the Passenger front door, which is protected by a plastic cover with 2 screws. You have to jack up your car for the post-cat but nothing hard. Hope that helps

hi sir 01VWJetta, I'm about to replace the 02 sensor of my 03 Jetta GLS. This is my first time to do it and i've looked for some instructions on how to do it. Being a newbie I only picked the simpler ones like this on how to replace an oxygen sensor. This is how i understand it:

Unplug then remove the old 02 sensor. apply anti-seize compound to the threads and install the new sensor then reconnect the plug.

Is it that easy? are there special precautions on doing this?

Thanks for any advise you can give..
