02 1.8t Jetta Shaking at 50+mph

Ok well i bought a 02 Jetta used recently. It runs fine form 1-40mph in town but as soon as i hit the high way and reach anywhere from 40-60mph it shakes pretty bad. Car itself and steering wheel. Anyone have any idea what can be causing it to shake this bad?? I just got an alinement and balancing done, seems to help a little bit but it still shakes. Any advice is appreciated, thanks alot.

well if you already got an alignment that was done properly, then the only thing i can think of is that the ball joints need to be repaired.

goodluck

One of your rims may be bent. I had a similar problem. It was a bent rim. My car shaked at 30 and 70.

Good luck

Similar prob with my 2000 VR6. ECS tuning just told me it's possibly cv joint, axle, front motor mount, or transmission mount. Good luck. Let me know what you come up with...

Does it have aftermarket wheels or factory? if it has aftermarket you might want to check to see if there arehubcentric rings on the inner hub of the wheel, just a thought.

Got the same problem with shaking. Just put on some aftermarket wheels, and it's got nothing to do with the wheels whatsoever. The hubcentric isn't a problem, and I just had an alignment done by a very reputable shop. It only shakes from around 65-85, and only when accelerating. Shop also checked out transmission and suspension and said that everything looks good. Any ideas?
