$900 for an O2 sensor???

Took my 01 Jetta to the dealer the other day cause it was running rough and the ck engine light came on. They procedded to tell me that it needed new plugs and wires and an O2 sensor. All for $900.

They quoted 7 hours of labor to replace this O2 sensor. Can that be right???? Sounds ridiculous to me for an O2 sensor. Thats like 650 in labor alone.

Is it possible to change this sensor my self? Thanks for any input.

id change it myself. which O2 sensor is it? the dealership is always WAY expensive, and there are a lot of horror stories coming from the dealer. how mechanically inclined are you?

I can fix just about anything with the right tools and manuals. I'm gonna do it myself. But there are some things that are quoted at 7 hours of labor for a reason...their a pain in the ass to get too if you've never done it before.

its true. if its the post cat it wont be too bad. but it sounds like its not, but its still do able. I suggest getting a bentley manual, its what VW techs use for reference, its about the equivalent a VW nerds bible. but yeah, shouldnt be too bad. good luck!
