What is the TCM (Transmission module)?
Hi, I took my car into VW because when my 2002 GTi 1.8T is not warm, the transmission won't make it's shifts. Once it is warm though, the car runs - no problem.
Anyway, the service manager at VW recommends to, "replace the TCM and retest the car" but if it doesn't fix it 100% then we would have to replace the transmission, "which is more likely the repair". Obviously, replacing the transmission cost thousands more. Has anyone else had this problem? I saw a TCM on eBay; is it a relatively easy fix? Let me know. Thanks! Marvin |
I love dealer advice. If you haven't changed the trans fluid lately then do that. Either way, get a bottle of Lucas Oil Anti-slip fluid. And I am 95% sure that will work. $10 is better than $3,000.
