i have an 07 GTI, and was wondering what i coulddo to my car w/o voiding the warranty i have? in terms of adding more horsepower.

funny, i just called the stealership to ask this.
asked mainly about the intake and all, they said you wont void warranty unless something goes wrong and can be directly blamed on the modification you do.
pretty vague, didnt really answer the question but kind of gave me an idea...
here is how i think they look at it, if soemthing goes wrong and they can find a way to tie it in to your changes, they will and they'll void you. just my thoughts, not certain though, i still went with an intake mod but am holding off otherwise for now.
i asked him about lowering as well and the only part of the warranty i would be voiding is the suspension, so if there are problems in say the drive train, they wouldnt be voided because of lowering the car.

not true i have an intake with the giac chip and dv and exhaust no joke i was able to get for free(thank you warranty) my trany clutch and fly wheel replace and then i just got my car back from having a blown turbo all for free. who would have thought that if a **** from world war 2(no joke)opened a volkswagen dealership I'd get brand new parts for blown up my old ones!

Thanks to the Magnusson-Moss Act, a dealer has to prove without a doubt and put in writing that whatever aftermarket modification you've done to the vehicle is directly responsible for the failure on/in the car. Example, if you put on a cold air intake and your shocks go bad, the dealer would have to prove that your aftermarket CAI caused that failure. Naturally, a CAI isn't going to have anything to do with that, so there's nothing to worry about.

Another example...

Recently I was having power issues at freeway speeds when I floored the car. It would downshift but there was no power surge whatsoever. I took it to my closest VW dealer and they tried to tell me it's an ECU failure due to it being chipped. Well I know for a fact that it's not chipped, but they didn't want to hear it. So I took it to a recommended dealer nearby and they actually took the time to check the car out. It turns out my turbo was bad. They even found some metal shavings in the piping. Ouch. Either way, it's getting fixed on VW's dime.
