Sloppy shifting after clutch job
 

I just replaced the clutch on my 2000 Golf TDi with OJ2 manual transmission. I used the instructions from ecstuning's website where you removed the shift cables, bracket and lever together as a unit. They say this way no adjustment is needed when reinstalled. I also drained and changed the transmission fluid while I was at it. Everything went back together well with no known parts left over.
However now the shifter is extremely sloppy and I can only hit 3rd and 4th gears from inside. Even with the cable end adjusted all the way out it will only go into 1st gear with the shifter knob in the REVERSE position. I can manually shift into every gear with the shift lever from inside the engine compartment, but only 3rd and 4th with shift knob inside. Any ideas?
