Default Side Molding

I bought a 1996 GTI a few months ago and it runs great. The passenger side door molding fell off and it annoyed me, so I bought the ones that bolt on. I ripped off the pieces of molding on the passenger side and replaced them with the black bolt on type, but when I got to the driver's side I had a hard time getting the molding off. I finally got all the molding off, but there was glue left behind on the body that I cannot get off with anything. The glue makes it impossible to put the new molding on and I was wondering if anyone knows what I would use to get it off without screwing up the paintjob. I uploaded a pic, but you can't see the glue.

Well, good question, you might not be able to avoid damaging the paint. Go to an auto store and look for some agents that will remove glue, usually used for weather stripping, but read them carefully, they will tell you what not to use it on.
