Mk4 Higher Mileage Problems

Hello Every One
I am 18 and looking to purchase a sporty car in the sub $5000 range. I love the Mk4 body style but the only ones I can find in my price range are over 100k miles. I would like to know some of the probable problems I could have with a car like this. Also it’s going to be a manual trans.

Regards

i bought a 99 gti with 138K miles on it and it was a manual. It has run fine. I changed the oil, but it runs like a champ. now has 143K and not plannin on stopping any time soon. Mk4 is all good, depending on the car you buy. Only problems are some cracked bushings, a slightly worn serpentine belt, and a broken oil filter housing. All easily acquired replacement parts. Now interior theres a missing plastic piece to hold my seat down in place when im not in it, broken cup holders, functional but slightly broken glove box. But all are easy to deal with so i think they are good cars
