Default Low Battery Voltage Check Engine Light

Hey everyone, nice forum!
I am (almost) the proud new owner of a 1998 Jetta TDi. The only thing that concerns me is that the check engine light was on, because of low battery voltage. I wanted to ask people who know their Jettas - is this indicative of serious problems? Or does it just mean that the car's battery ran out one day and the car had to be jumped? Thanks for your help!

Default RE: Low Battery Voltage Check Engine Light

put in a new battery then check for fault codes with a scanner.
