Engine Light

Recently i put 2 12" Alpine Type S subs and a Alpine 600 watt amp in my 01 gti. I dont think that im getting enough amps. so my question is where can i find an alternator that will handle the load, because i put a power cap on and it hasnt helped much. has anyone had to put on a aftermarket custom alt. ?

No, you don't need one unless your alternator sux and is dying. I've hooked up hundreds of systems, and you have a capacitor, which stores battery power so when the bass hits your lights and everything don't dim....it should be fine unless you hooked something up wrong. I have 2 12" Alpine type R's, with a rockford 2400 amp and I don't use a cap and I run fine. Somethings hooked up wrong.

huh? did you think that you were losing power from the amp but really you werent? cause otherwise i dont get how it could have anything to do with the MAF.
like bagel said, alt should be fine, i ran two fifteens with two 1500 fosgates in my old grand cherokee with no cap and never had a problem.

i thought it was from the amp but it was becuz i had put a reg. k&n panel filter on there and i believe that the oil from the filter got to the MAF, plus the guy at the VW d-ship said they had probs in the gti with those
