Default ac problem!

i know this is not the place but i have a 00 jetta glx & maybe sum1 wid a gti glx can help me. So heres the problem, my ac works fine until the temperature reader in between the speedometer & the rpms goes crazy. It might start out reading the actual temperature outside (lets say 95 degrees) & 3 minutes later it will drop down to the 30s or lower, and then the ac blows nothing but hot air. what could be causing that? can any1 please help! thankx!
