Default VW Golf GTI Fans always running

Hello! Recently purchased a Golf GTI MK5 2006 model, and having an odd issue with the fans. I've done a search, but struggling to find anything similar. They are both running, from start, non stop until the car is turned off. With airconditioning on, and off. Not too noisy, on the lowest speed it seems.

Have replaced the coolant temp sensor (tried top and bottom) and it's still bringing up an error, saying that it's faulty (the bottom sensor).

Hope someone can help!
Thanks,
Shane

Well you can do alot of expensive guessing or you can find someone with VAG-COM\VCDS to do an Autoscan to see if any error codes come back.

It could be a faulty fan temperature switch or the controller.
