stupid 1.8
Hello all, i'am a fairly new VW owner.... i purchased a 1995 1.8 NOT turbo... the motor only has 103 000 kms on it. I paid $2000 canadian for it. its great car. the only problem is i'am finding it difficult to to find after market parks. its seems most parts are made for the 2.0 liter. So my question is, whats interchangeable between the 1.8 and the 2.0. I'am not lookign to do any heavy mods. For now i'd like to hunt down a cold air, full exaust, chip, and iginition. And finaly, is it worth my time/money to work with the 1.8 or am i better off just selling and getting a 2.0 liter. (lets hope not)
Thanks,
Matt brown

I would say if you are looking for serious power sell it and get a 2.0. Kineticmotorsport.com is developing an awesome turbo kit for the 2.0 the stage 1 is already availible and puts out 160whp and stage 2 will put out 240whp and stage 3 was dynoed at 280whp and 300wtq. The stage 2 is close to pre-orders I have a kit coming as a teaser. PS all testing was done on stock internals and the stage 3 was dynoed with 3" exhaust. Stages 1 & 2 were dynoed with stock exhaust.
well im sad to hear that the 1.8 is useless ahh welll i guess i knew that anyways....so i have anoher question...
if i get a 2.0 liter motor, can i swap in it in place of my 1.8 without much trouble? What will i need to buy to complete the swap besides the motor?
Thanks again.

Not sure, not very familiar with the 1.8s in newer cars post 92. If it has 4 injectors then its probably an easy swap if its like the older Digifant motors then you might as well buy the front clip of a 2.0 93-95 OBD1 Golf and if thats the case you might as well source out a VR6 front clip and swap that in. The VR6s have like 170hp stock. Can you post a pick of the engine in your car.
